design progress

Design idea

basically this is my idea that i'd be design for the ballerina.
The Location would be in Portobello road,a place with a lot interesting shops and antique gather (ribbon bow collecting is interesting as well ,huh) ,the weather in London is mysterious (same as my feeling across the painting).
when the time i read the painting... Nottinghill pops up in my mind and it fits in design the space for ribbon bow collecting..as it is special ,unique.

as the ribbon bow collector is enjoy tie up ribbons
i would like to transform the space in the way that how a ribbon twist and make the knot that becames the bow ,the whole ribbon is acutally connected with a knot .

She is a ribbon bow collector,as well as ballerina, it is posible to built up a her own dancing place ,as professional have to take pratical experience, she must love to dance once she 's feeling happy( or even unhappy to express her feeling ) ,therefore,i'd also design her own dancing space. Prob. I'd put the dancing space on the 2nd level as the same feeling as she perform one stage ,is one level up than the audiance.

In the Sumer interior, the feeling is rather peace and silence , there are very strong vertical lines to define my distance across the girl and the door in front of her.
Therefore ,i'd base on a square / retangular shape to present the idea of the ribbon bow.

Project 2

This is my selected painting from Edward Hopper's collection.

I read this painting as a girl who may be a ballerina ( looking at the dress she's wearing)
is being locked/chosen to be locked in a dim/tiny room to sew/tie something.
I believe she'd be a energetic girl who will get out of the room right after she finished with her sewing . My narrative is base on my feeling accross this painting .

Right in front of the girl there is a door / curtain, to me it is a signature of an "exit" ,in the way i think exit = opening .... there may be sometime totally different/excited behind it.

Narrative :
A space for a ribbon bow colector(a ballerina) to collect her ribbon bow.

Project 1 Artifice SUBMISSION POCHE

my poche drawings try to show how the light fill up the space and the atmosphere it brought into the house

Project 1 Artifice SUBMISSION PARTI

The site is isolated on a precipitous, terraced hill,in the parti drawing i try to show the privacy and how it is surrounded but mountains and trees.
Since it's on a terraced hill, there is a public road and a passage behind the gate lead to the house,
stairs lead people up to the terrace level as shown in the parti below.

Below I try to use different darkness to define the enclosure in between inside and outside,
eventough it is a very small apartment , I can see that Eileen Gray define the space by difference layers which easy to understood the function of the space and gave adequate privacy.

The massing of the house is also divide into 3 different level from outside,semi-public & inside.

further down there, the privacy of inside and outside is similar to the enclosure in this villa as it is clearly defined different us and degree of enclosure of the space.

The geometry I see is basically rectangular shapes as the walls inside the house leads the circulation of whole, and rarely we can see curve walls in Tempe a Pailla ,therefore,I concluded geometry as in rectangular .

When talking about the structure of the open plan design .
The basic component makes up with columns and load bearing walls , there is also a retaining wall at the back courtyard.
The first parti drawing is try to show how important the combination of structure in this house, the windows takes up the important role with the combination of the walls.

As mention earlier, the space in this house is clearly define, yet, each space is connected in a way that is related to each other,I would say it's more like "interlocking " each space.
below parti shows the function and the proximities of the program.

make it more clear, I draw the circulation into 2 parts, the first one showing the courtyard space wehre the second one showing the covered space. When you look at the 2 part diagrams at the same time , you could see how you walk through the house from outside ->inside -> outside ,or actually you are part of the outside.

This is how I treat the house as a gift and understand it.In addition,I also draw the Elevations of Tempe a Pailla to have a better understanding of the whole idea
